Hawaii- Day 4

"What a surprise, another perfect day." -Andy, 4/20/08 8:30 a.m., Kauai, HI Here are the highlights of day 4:

  • This morning we attended sacrament meeting in the Kalaheo ward in the cute little town of Kalaheo, it's about 15 minutes from Poipu. The meeting was really good and the best part was the musical number- a big Hawaiian guy singing and playing the ukelele.

  • After church we drove up Waimea Canyon- known as 'the Grand Canyon of Hawaii'. It was a really pretty drive and we saw some great views. The weather was pretty funny, we kept having these downpours- a couple of times we caught with our roof down. They say that it is always raining somewhere in Kauai and we managed to find some of that rain today.
  • The canyon ends with an overlook of the Na Pali coast. We were really excited to drive to the end and see the famous coastline. Unfortunately the clouds were kind of in the way! Oh well!

  • When we drove back down to Poipu (the sunny side of the island) we saw the beautiful sun shining and the ocean waves calling our names so we rented a couple of boogie boards and had a blast!

  • We ended our evening with a stroll down to Shipwreck beach where we sat on a swing for a while, found a hammock (gotta love having a high class resort next door), and read books until it was too dark to see.
